Sample Treatment Day

What is a sample treatment day?

Treating drug and alcohol addiction is not simple. A series of events, feelings, perceptions, physical experiences and thoughts comprises everyone’s life. The control that these elements of one’s life have upon decision making is part of one’s vulnerability to addictive behavior. To break addictive behavior, faulty decision making, negative thinking, a client must be able to examine his or her life honestly. The most successful treatment programs will utilize a variety of therapeutic models to achieve client awareness, acceptance, and change.

Treatment Alternatives is proud to be among the few treatment facilities that follow best practices and offers comprehensive, multidisciplinary treatment. Detox is the first step in attending any treatment program. The process of returning the brain and the body back to normal functioning begins with a formal detox. For this reason, it is usually best to detox under the supervision of a physician trained in addiction medicine. Detox also reveals whether mental health disorders are drug induced or are an underlying contributing factor. It always should be noted that detox is never a substitute for treatment. The goals of detox are different from the goals of addiction treatment.A treatment plan must be created and continually evaluated as a client moves away from detox. Areas such as family dynamics, behavior modification, childhood trauma, drug education, medication monitoring, relapse prevention are all necessary components that build the foundation for a strong recovery.
